Heading off back to Vuda point on Monday, transferred all the fuel from the reserve tank into the main tank...and yup engine died after about an hours running...air ? ...not this time...water !...the glass bowl under the fuel filter is full of milk !Swap filters, get going again but it dies twice more and on arrivuing at Vuda Pt it won't idle, but we get to a berth.
Lorenzo's boys come down witha pump and a 44 gallon drum and pump all the contaminated fuel out. New fuel, new filters and we're back in business.
But how did the fuel get contaminated ? Only plausible theory is that having left the reserve tank empty over summer, because of the heat and humidity in this place, condensation developed in the tank..the fuel delivery man says he's seen it quite often, so moral of the story is: leave the boat with full tanks.
Tuesday morning Ali arrives and we get the new compressor goinmg...freezer back to -22..that feels better !
Met a man called Aaron from the "Pacific North West" , he has a 70ft schooner called Wayward Wind, which he resurrected as a mess and refurbished, since sailed across the pacific to Fiji, he's now set up a company and will do charters on her
