Finally left the Blue Lagoon and had a great sail south. Decided to stay in Cuvu Bay just around the corner from Manta Ray Bay. What a delightful place, no-one there except birds...beautiful beach, calm quiet anchorage.
From there I sailed down to Yalobi Bay at the south end of Waya Island. Saw Avant Garde II (Chico 50)coming out from behind Manta Ray. They headed down the east side of Waya, I went down the west side. Motored all the way, we both arrived at the same time. Rolly night even though there was no wind..Yaolbu Bay is always rolly, don't know why I decided to stay there ! Next day upearly to head for Mana Island. An on again off again day ..sail, motor, sail, motor. Arrived at 1415 to see Teka Nova, Terry and Christine from UK here also. Anchored, dinghied over for a chat and a beer- very nice. Teka Nova left early the next day, I decided to stay...mistake - the wind got up and it was blowing 25-30 by the late afternoon. Today I decided I had enough of that, so after waiting a bit for the tide to come in, I headed out at 1100 with 25 knots on the nose...it was like that all the way to Musket Cove ! So two hours later I'm anchored at Musket in front of an Amel Super Maramu called Jackster, which I've seen before in lots of places. So I'll be here for a couple of days and then head to Vuda Pt....again. Taking the opportunity while the battery voltage is up and there's plenty of sun, to equalise the house bank - that involves driving them up to 15.2 volts and holding it there for a couple of hours to shed the sulfate deposits on the plates..the MPPT Solar charge does it all automatically at the push of a button. I always believed that sealed AGM batteries should not be equalised, but the technical guy at Lifeline USA, one of the biggest manufacturers of AGM batteries says YES ! Equalise!!...so I am ! So Cheers from Musket Cove 17 46.31 S, 177 11.21 E |
